Four people, including an eight-year-old boy, died in a horrific two-vehicle collision on the PJ Patterson Highway in Kingston early Sunday. The victims have been identified as 22-year-old Tyesha Manhertz, 29-year-old Wendy Lammie, 27-year-old Andre McLeish, and young Trey Stewart, all from Kingston 7.

Police cited excessive speeding, driver distraction, and a collision with another wrecked vehicle as possible causes. The crash involved a 2022 Mercedes Benz and a 2002 Toyota Probox.

Jamaican sensation Dejanea Oakley delivered one of the greatest performances in NCAA history, storming to a record-breaking 48.79 seconds in the women’s 400 meters. The Georgia Bulldogs star shattered the NCAA record, set a new championship meet record, and moved to No. 2 on Jamaica’s all-time list behind only Nickisha Pryce.

Reports indicate McLeish was driving the Probox when he lost control, hit a median, and overturned. As the four occupants tried to exit the wreck, the Mercedes struck them, inflicting fatal injuries. All were pronounced dead at Spanish Town Hospital. The Mercedes driver faces prosecution.
