Singer Sean Kingston is once again in federal custody after failing to post a $100,000 bond while awaiting sentencing in a fraud case involving over $1 million in luxury items.
Kingston, born Kisean Anderson, was taken into custody Thursday at Miami’s Federal Detention Center. He and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty last month of wire fraud and conspiracy.
Initially granted house arrest with the bond condition, Kingston’s inability to pay landed him back behind bars. Turner remains in jail as both await sentencing.
The charges stem from a May 2024 arrest, where prosecutors accused the pair of using fake bank documents to obtain high-end goods from jewelers, car dealers, and electronics sellers. Authorities say the duo took advantage of Kingston’s celebrity status to carry out the alleged scam.
Defense attorneys argue there was no malicious intent and claim some victims were reimbursed. A sentencing date has yet to be set.
